Born into a line of hard workers and entrepreneurs, Santou has always been fearless into her approach to achieving what she believes in and setting the bar very high as she leaves no room for mediocrity. Her father was a businessman and a farmer. Her mother is a Doctor. Her father passed away when she was only 11 years old leaving her mother and her siblings to struggle to make ends meet. She understood from a very young age that only hard work and dedication are keys to success. This experience also taught her from a young age the value of sacrifices and to remain humble and be to service to other. As the eldest child to her mother, Santou learned really quick to be strong both emotionally and physically.
As life will have it she will migrate to the USA at the age of 15 leaving her mother and her siblings behind, in hopes of better opportunities. For the next few years she developed exceptional survivor skills. Just three years later she will become the first girl out of 18 of her father’s to obtain a High School Diploma in New Jersey. She would then obtain a basketball scholarship at an University level in North Carolina, and eventually graduate with a BA in economics. Her basketball career ended with an ankle injury. She will then move one to earn her Masters in Management with a concentration in Non Profit Organizations and Associations. Soon after she founded her own NGO One Child One Chance, and currently assisting orphans in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and South Africa.
Our first ever product was the Organic Shea Butter from Guinea. If you grew up in West Africa, Shea Butter is the go to product for many things. Every household has shea butter and it is literally used for anything and everything, form hair growth, dry skin, new-born’s skin, constipation, congestion, inflammation etc…
As I migrated to America, my Mum always made sure that I had Shea butter. However, it is not until I gave birth to my son that I truly understood the miracle of Shea Butter. As a first time mum everything is scary. My son got a little congested and for a couple of days I had tried everything I could possibly to in vain. That’s when my aunt asked me to hand her the baby and some Shea Butter. Skeptical as I watched her, she melts the Shea Butter in a spoon over some boiling water, cools it off to a consumable temperature and feeds it to my son. Surprisingly to me, just a few minutes later my son vomited all the mucus built up in his chest and ever since Shea butter has been the number one remedy congestion relief to my son.
